Not Much Today!

BATMAN and ROBIN

I have been talking so much about my childhood, and posting so many photographs from that era, I decided to post something about another childhood hero:  BATMAN and ROBIN   LOL.  To an 8 year old boy, BATMAN and ROBIN were the coolest super heros ever.  The original TV show came on TV during PRIME TIME on Thursday nights.  Remember, we only received three (3) TV channels in those days, so all young eyes were glued to the TV when these crime-fighters came on.  I watched an old episode online the other night, and it was so corny.  Truthfully, I would STILL like to have one of those BATMAN utility belts.

Today is Thursday.  I arrived to school at around 2:15 and immediately started filling coolers with ice.  Today, I decided to go "all-out" and fill both coil coolers and both battery cows.  We have been practicing on the always-dry band field, and there is not a water supply nearby.  So, the battery powered water cows were needed.  I was proud of myself for making the executive decision to get water on the field.........then, a huge bolt of lightning hit nearby.  Storms clouds were covering the area and the rain started.   We all had to run inside, and that was it for the day.  Damn, I filled the coolers for nothing!  Oh well, Life in Florida!

School is starting on Monday, so we will get an influx of new younger players next week.  Some of the kids may have just moved to the area, or they may be new to our program.  Randy has a team policy that any kid (who is new to the program) may come out after we start; however, if a player has been with us before, and he missed all the spring and summer workouts, he will not be allowed to come out this season.  I think this is a fair policy, for our players work hard to make themselves better.  We can't have lazy players poisoning the kids who work hard.

Tomorrow, our players and coaches will get fully dressed in game uniforms and pose for pictures.  Photographers from the yearbook, the newspaper, and team program will all take pictures for their needs.  It will be HOT on the field, and this is a miserable necessity.  After we are finished, we will hit the field for a couple of hours.  Since we were rained out today, there will be lots to cover.  Afterall, we scrimmage on Saturday, and we play in a Kick-Off Classic the following Friday night against Melbourne.  Then, the regular season grind starts.  I can't believe it is that time already.

That's it!

  1. Batman and Robin are the best super heros... By far!!! I like them to because the have to be moving in one accord like my two inside linebackers!!! They lookout for each other and have each others back. And like the original dynamic duo...where there is one you find the other.
I cannot wait to put the foot on the leather next Friday in Melbourne. They will be a good test and tough opponent. They are excited too!!! We are at the point in camp where you can tell they are tired of hitting on each other...they want to hit a different color shirt!!!

  2. Hey Mike... The special teams this season is going to be tagged 'special forces' (for you) to, hopefully, get some kids excited about this important phase of the game!!!
